What advice would you give beginner artists?

Never let anyone make you second guess yourself or your vision!! Make the music YOU want to make, don't concern yourself with trends, fads, or the industry buzz. You will encounter a tiresome barrage of clueless executive types telling you why you "can't do this, and can't do that"-- ignore them at all costs and hold steadfast to your vision!

Audiences are much smarter than the industry gives them credit. They want to find artists they can believe in and trust. (That's sadly lacking today and the music biz is crumbling because of it.) It's vital to achieve that authentic place inside yourself--and the most beautiful thing of all is to share that onstage in front of an audience.

Also, I’ve learned that you can’t wait (or rely on others) for inspiration; you have to earn it. You’ve got to work hard, be disciplined. Read great books! Immerse yourself in the discovery of new things. Live your art. Honor your imagination.
